Douglas Cohn has been practicing family law since 1985.After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1980 and Vermont Law School in 1984, he started his legal career in Massachusetts. He later moved to Vermont, where he specialized in family law. His early work included serving as a clerk for two state attorney offices and contributing to the Washington County Family Court Project, which introduced innovative programs within the Family Court system.

In 1998, Attorney Cohn was appointed as a Family Court Magistrate in Vermont, adjudicating cases involving alimony, child support, visitation, and domestic abuse. During his tenure, he also served as an acting judge in property and children’s matters and conducted seminars for attorneys on family law. Prior to his appointment, he taught family law and legal studies at Woodbury College and acted as a Family Court Master, guardian ad litem, and juvenile case advocate.

After leaving the bench in 2004, Attorney Cohn joined Downs Rachlin Martin’s family law division before returning to Maryland to practice with Brodsky, Greenblatt, and Renehan, Chartered. He eventually opened his own practice, continuing his dedication to family law. Throughout his career, he has been active in community service, including serving on local boards, coaching youth sports, and supporting charitable organizations.
